The Skyhawk Wrestling Club is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that teaches the sport of wrestling to 1st through 8th grade children. The SWC was created by the Southridge Wrestling Head Coach 23 years ago to prepare our community's youth athletes for wrestling at the High School level and beyond. 

 

MISSION:  To give young athletes the opportunity to develop both physically (fitness & skill development) and mentally (building self-esteem & determination).  Our desire is that all athletes will develop a love for wrestling, competition, and teamwork.  No experience necessary, and financial assistance is available.

OPENING NIGHT - Monday Nov. 13th, 2023 @ Southridge HS in Wrestling Room

• 1st-5th graders:  5pm - 6pm

• 6th-8th graders:  6pm - 7pm

Location- Southridge High School Wrestling Gym. Go in the doors by the main gym, then downstairs.

This night will include registration, passing out detailed practice/tournament times, and having a mandatory parent meeting. We will be discussing the details of our club, parent expectations and have time for you to preview our program and meet our High School and Club Coaches. We will also provide time for your kids to have some fun and wrestle! (Please dress in shorts with no buttons/zippers, a t-shirt, and socks if you don’t have wrestling shoes yet). If you miss registration night, it’s not too late!  Please come to the next practice to register.

 

REGULAR PRACTICE TIMES 

1st - 5th graders:  Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5pm-6pm

6th - 8th graders (and advanced 4th & 5th): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5pm - 6:30pm plus Mondays and Wednesdays, 5pm-6pm 

Advanced 1st-5th welcome at 6-8th grade practice, MUST bring a partner and be able to mentally and physically handle a more intense practice 

*Practice schedule subject to change depending on the number of wrestlers registered after the first practice. This will be discussed on Opening Night on Nov 13th. Please stay tuned in the future in case that changes. 

           

USA Wrestling

All wrestlers need to be USA certified. This is non-negotiable. The USA Wrestling card allows your wrestler to wrestle at all the Metro League tournaments throughout the year, as well as be able to wrestle at ANY USA tournament for an entire year. This not only allows your wrestler to compete during the year, but also has them protected under the USA Wrestling Insurance umbrella that we are registered under. If you have questions about how to register or about the cost and payment ($46) please reach out to the coaching staff to discuss further. If you are a parent who would like to help the coaching staff, you are more than welcome to volunteer your help. COMPETITIONS

Tournaments- Saturday and Sunday morning tournaments at various Metro League Locations. If you are interested in having your wrestler compete in USA tournaments, please talk with the coaches about USA tournament schedule.

REGISTRATION COST:

$130 to register for the entire season, which includes t-shirt and awesome two-piece uniform for your athlete to keep. If you are paying via check on opening night please make payable to “Skyhawk Wrestling Club”.
